This year, Buddha Poornima falls on 18th May. It is believed that Buddha Purnima carries the creation of nine out of 10 favorable conditions termed as Mahayog. Hence this day seems to be quite auspicious in terms of astrological significance as well.
Buddha Purnima, also known as Buddha Jayanthi or Vesak (Vaisakha in Sanskrit) is a festival of Buddhists commemorating the birth, enlightenment (Nirvana) and death (Parinirvana) of Gautama Buddha. It is the most auspicious day for Buddhists.
As per the Hindu traditions, Vaishakh Purnima holds a very high significance for making donations and a holy dip in river Kshipra.
On this Vesek or Buddha Purnima, if you strongly follow this Eightfold Path, Ganesha says:
1.You will be free from all your sufferings. 2. You will gain complete peace of mind. 3. You will bring harmony by your own virtues and good conducts and ethics.
4. You will purify your mind and thoughts only when you will attract goodness and positive aura around you. Then, you will remain positive and inspire others to be positive in life.
5.You will strengthen your mind. Those of you who are suffering from the malefic effects of Saturn Sade Sati must maintain Eightfold Path along with other mantras. 6. You will not only release your mental pressure but also boost confidence and get effective results in every sphere of life.
The five principles called the ‘Panchsheel’ are also followed by the Buddhists, on Buddha Purnima. They have firm faith in these principles. These are as follows:
a. Not To Take Life
b. Not To Steal
c. Not To Lie
d. Not To Take Alcohol
e.. Not To Commit Adultery.
